Lithuania Introduces Stricter Gambling Regulations for 2025

The next updates will be made for a secure and accountable gaming space:

1. New minimum age. Gambling will be restricted to individuals under 21 for all activities except the national sweepstake.
2. Trained staff in venues. Casinos must hire qualified personnel to identify and address problematic gaming behaviour. Staff can suspend individuals for 48 hours if necessary.
3. Improved oversight. Operators will be required to maintain comprehensive records of customer performance, accessible to the local regulatory body LPT for monitoring purposes.
4. Closure of illegal platforms. Financial processors will restrict payments to unregulated betting sites to combat unauthorised gambling.
5. Higher tax rates. Entertainment activities, including slots, tabletops, and online wagering, will face a 22% fee under the revised framework.

The reforms aim to provide a safer gaming landscape, minimise risks associated with addiction, and ensure higher compliance among betting ventures. These steps are part of Lithuania’s broader strategy to enhance accountability and social responsibility in the sector.
