EGBA Reports a New Achievement During the ESGW 2024: Record Participation

The annual themed week drew substantial interest from a broad public, which emphasises the increasing commitment of Europe’s niche brands to responsible gaming practices. Also, the impressive geographical reach of this year's conference further underscores this fact.

The 2024 edition focused on the following subjects:

• industry tendencies;
• AI-based innovations;
• awareness through messaging;
• advanced user protection instruments;
• reports on addictive gambling, etc.

105 industry professionals, including representatives of regulatory bodies from the UK, France, Belgium, and other countries, took part in the conference as speakers.

The campaign also attracted business specialists from:

• Romania;
• Malta;
• Austria;
• Greece;
• Denmark;
• Estonia;
• Ukraine, etc.

The event's organisers also highlighted the impressive outcomes achieved during the previous year. In 2023, 67 million safety-focused messages were sent to Europeans, underscoring the EGBA's ongoing adherence to transparent and conscious gaming. The gathering further strengthens the association's efforts to foster tighter collaboration between regulators, mental health organisations, and gambling operators.

The 2024 Edition's Breakthroughs in Numbers

The latest ESGW set several records in the following categories:

1. Number of partners. The conference gathered 195 industry professionals, a 20% uplift compared to 2023. Also, 8 national gambling authorities participated, twice as many as last year. Some experts were involved in the social media campaign, while others were speakers at related events.
2. Geographical coverage. The occasion welcomed representatives from 26 countries, marking a 30% growth. For the first time, delegates from Ukraine, Serbia, and Croatia joined, which became possible thanks to the online presentation being translated into 27 languages.
3. Amount of online users. Web social platforms drew 3.1 million individuals, creating over 1,100 posts — a remarkable 67% incline compared to 2023. The list of covered networks included popular LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram.
4. Related events. The programme featured 20 dedicated occasions, an 11% increase from last year, with approximately 4,500 registrations and 3,000 attendees.

The EGBA’s Secretary General, Maarten Haijer, emphasised that the success of this year’s campaign reflects the industry’s intensifying commitment to player protection. The notable rise in the number of visitors, particularly from healthcare organisations and regulators, underscores the shared goal and increasing unity in promoting responsible gambling practices.

The specialist highlighted the record number of European customers who received warning notifications and educational messages during the programme. He expressed confidence in the association's role in improving the industry and looks forward to next year’s campaign to achieve even more impressive results.
